So here we are Wednesday morning and the Leafs have dropped their last four games and the fanbase has gone into a complete spiral. This team, is it flawed? Absolutely but anyone who knows this team should know that they are fully capable of ending this skid and going on a four or five-game win streak. This team came back from a four-game set against California teams winning all four games and everyone was confident in their team. With this latest skid, we have seen that defensively the team lacks depth. Reading that I know that everyone will then focus on the big four contracts. Guess what Nylander and Matthews getting extended were the right things to do for this team because if they walked in free agency every Leaf fan would be crying wondering how their production would be replaced, news flash it wouldn’t. If you’re the General Manager of a team and you believe your team is a playoff contender, then you spend to the cap and the Leafs have consistently been a playoff team. Do I still believe this year's team will make the postseason? Yes, will it be easy? No nothing ever is. However, I am confident that this team will make the playoffs.

I have seen so much talk about firing Keefe, and I get that but right now I don’t think changing the coach during the season is going to suddenly turn the team around. Sheldon was given a 2-year extension at the start of this season; do I think Brad Treliving will keep Sheldon behind the Leafs bench for the next two seasons? Not Likely but firing Keefe at this moment isn’t the right decision at all. If he were to be fired, who would you replace him with? Guy Boucher? He would seem the most likely person because he would just move one spot over on the bench but here’s the thing. The Leafs would still have an injured Joseph Woll they would still have Ilya Samsonov who is fighting and trying to regain his confidence, honestly in his first start in weeks against Detroit yes, the Leafs lost but he kept the team in the game he gave the Leafs a chance to win and that’s all you ever ask for. Look at the adversity the Leafs have faced this season. The blue line has battled injury all season the team is using a third-string goalie in Martin Jones and is still staying above water. Yes, Detroit and Tampa are right on the tail of the Maple Leafs, but Toronto has been doing fine with Jones as the starter. I had many people tell me he should be the number one goalie even when Woll returns from his ankle injury.

I understand the frustration right now surrounding this team I get mad when the team loses too but I know without a doubt that this team will turn things around as January enters its final week. Every team goes through streaks throughout a season the Oilers are on an 11-game winning streak currently, does that mean that they are going to go unbeaten the rest of the season? Not they will cool down just like the Leafs will climb out of this slump they are in. The Leafs are currently 4-3-1 in January, and fans can’t honestly think this team will go winless the rest of the way and if anyone thinks they will then I don’t know what to tell you.

I understand the frustration around the team right now but honestly, everyone who reads this just take a deep breath and relax they will figure things out.
